Calvin Ridley Signs Massive Four-Year Contract with Indianapolis Colts Worth $92 Million in Free Agency Blockbuster
The star wide receiver chose Indianapolis over multiple suitors, giving Anthony Richardson a premier target for the 2026 season.

Calvin Ridley shocked the NFL world on Friday by signing a four-year, $92 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts that includes $58 million guaranteed, choosing the young franchise over several other suitors in what represents the biggest free agency signing of the 2026 offseason and a franchise-changing move for Indianapolis.

The 29-year-old wide receiver, who caught 76 passes for 1,243 yards and eight touchdowns with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season after returning from his gambling suspension, elected to join forces with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson in what the Colts hope will be a dynamic partnership that propels them into playoff contention.

When I met with Coach Shane Steichen and the front office, their vision for this offense and how they plan to use me was exactly what I was looking for, Ridley said during his introductory press conference at the team facility. Anthony has incredible arm talent and the ability to make plays that most quarterbacks simply cannot make. I believe we can build something special here in Indianapolis.

Ridley decision represents a significant gamble on Richardson, who showed flashes of brilliance during his rookie campaign but also struggled with consistency and injuries that limited him to just 13 games. The Colts believe that adding a proven playmaker like Ridley will accelerate Richardson development and provide the reliable target that their passing attack has lacked in recent seasons.

Colts General Manager Chris Ballard acknowledged that the team had to stretch financially to secure Ridley services but emphasized that elite wide receivers rarely become available in free agency. Calvin is a game-changing player who can line up anywhere on the field and create mismatches against any defense, Ballard said. When you have the opportunity to add someone of his caliber, you have to be aggressive and make it happen.

The signing immediately transforms the Colts offensive outlook for 2026, giving them a legitimate number one receiver for the first time since T.Y. Hilton prime years. Ridley presence should also benefit second-year receiver Josh Downs and veteran Michael Pittman Jr., who will now face less defensive attention in what could become one of the AFC more dangerous receiving corps.

Ridley chose Indianapolis despite reportedly receiving competitive offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Washington Commanders. His decision was influenced by the Colts commitment to building around Richardson and their belief that they can contend in what appears to be a wide-open AFC South division race.

With Ridley now in the fold, the Colts have positioned themselves as a potential dark horse playoff contender in 2026, provided Richardson can take the sophomore leap that many young quarterbacks experience in their second season.
