Manchester United Defeats Chelsea 3-1 in Premier League Thriller
Marcus Rashford scores twice as United dominates at Old Trafford in crucial top-four battle.

Manchester United delivered a commanding 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, moving within three points of the top four in what was arguably their most complete performance of the season.

Marcus Rashford was the star of the show, netting twice in the first half to give United a comfortable lead before the break. The England international opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a perfectly placed curling effort from outside the box, before doubling the advantage just before halftime with a clinical finish from close range after excellent work down the left flank by Luke Shaw.

Chelsea struggled to cope with United's high pressing and quick transitions throughout the first 45 minutes. Despite having 58% possession, the visitors managed just two shots on target in the opening period. Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino was clearly frustrated on the sidelines as his team failed to create clear-cut chances despite dominating the ball.

The second half began with Chelsea showing more urgency, and they were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Enzo Fernandez fired home from 25 yards after a corner was only partially cleared. The goal sparked hopes of a comeback, but United responded immediately through Bruno Fernandes, who converted from the penalty spot after Thiago Silva was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana made several crucial saves in the final 20 minutes to preserve his team's advantage, including a spectacular double save to deny both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. The victory moves United to fifth in the Premier League table with 45 points from 25 games, while Chelsea remains in ninth place, 11 points adrift of the Champions League qualification spots.

Manager Erik ten Hag praised his team's intensity and clinical finishing, noting that this was the type of performance they needed to show consistently to achieve their top-four ambitions. With crucial fixtures against Liverpool and Arsenal coming up, United will hope this result marks a turning point in their season.
