Candace Parker and Elena Delle Donne Lead Star-Studded Basketball Hall of Fame Class
Two WNBA legends headline 21 finalists for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, with Doc Rivers and Blake Griffin also in contention.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its list of 21 finalists for the Class of 2026, with WNBA superstars Candace Parker and Elena Delle Donne leading a distinguished group that spans multiple eras and levels of basketball excellence.

Parker, a three-time WNBA champion and former MVP, has long been considered a lock for Springfield. Her stellar career includes two NCAA championships at Tennessee, where she became the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game, followed by a dominant professional career that saw her win titles with the Los Angeles Sparks and Chicago Sky. Her impact on women's basketball extends far beyond statistics, as she helped elevate the sport's profile and inspired a generation of young players.

Delle Donne, a six-time All-Star and former MVP with the Washington Mystics, brings her own impressive résumé to the ballot. Known for her incredible shooting touch and versatility, she led the Mystics to their first WNBA championship in 2019 while battling through injuries that would define her later career. Her combination of skill and determination made her one of the most respected players of her generation.

Among the other notable finalists, Doc Rivers represents the coaching side of basketball excellence. The veteran coach, who led the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship in 2008, has been a consistent winner throughout his career and is widely respected for his ability to manage star players and navigate high-pressure situations.

Blake Griffin's inclusion highlights his impact during the early 2010s when he revolutionized the power forward position with his athleticism and highlight-reel dunks. Despite injuries that shortened his prime, Griffin's influence on the game and his six All-Star appearances make him a compelling candidate for enshrinement.

The final selection will be announced at a later date, with the induction ceremony expected to take place this fall. The Class of 2026 promises to be one of the most diverse and accomplished in recent memory, representing the global growth and evolution of basketball at all levels.
