Lakers Rally Past Warriors in Overtime Thriller
The Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors 127-124 in overtime at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night, delivering one of the most thrilling performances of the 2025-26 NBA season.
LeBron James led the comeback charge with 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Anthony Davis dominated the paint with 31 points and 14 rebounds. The veteran duo proved they still have championship-level chemistry when it matters most, combining for 15 of the Lakers 19 overtime points.
Golden State appeared to have the game in hand when Stephen Curry hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Warriors a 112-97 lead with 8:42 remaining in regulation. Curry finished with 35 points and 8 assists, but the Warriors could not close out the game when they had their chances.
The turning point came with 3:47 left in the fourth quarter when Lakers coach Darvin Ham inserted rookie guard Jalen Hood-Schifino into the lineup. The young guard immediately sparked a 12-2 run with aggressive drives to the basket and tenacious defense on Curry, helping force three consecutive Warriors turnovers.
James tied the game at 119-119 with a contested three-pointer over Draymond Green with 12.3 seconds remaining, sending the crowd into a frenzy. In overtime, Davis took over with three consecutive baskets in the paint, while the Lakers defense held the Warriors to just 5 points in the extra period.
The victory keeps the Lakers in seventh place in the Western Conference standings, just 1.5 games behind the sixth-seeded Phoenix Suns. With James showing no signs of slowing down at age 41 and Davis healthy, the Lakers are positioning themselves as a dangerous playoff team that no one wants to face in the first round.
