Manchester City Sign England Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse on Loan

Manchester City have signed England goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse on a short-term loan from Orlando Pride. Orlando announced that the agreement runs through January 2027, while City said completion remains subject to the necessary registration and clearance procedures. The move brings the 31-year-old back to England after more than four seasons with the National Women's Soccer League club.

Moorhouse arrives after starting 20 regular-season matches for Orlando in 2026. The Pride said she made 58 saves and recorded six shutouts in those appearances. Orlando general manager Caitlin Carducci said the club worked with the goalkeeper when the chance emerged for her to play in the Women's Super League while moving closer to home and family.

Her strongest season in the United States came in 2024, when she set an NWSL single-season record with 13 clean sheets. Orlando won both the NWSL Shield and the league championship that year, while Moorhouse was a finalist for NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a place on the Best XI Second Team. She also played every minute of Orlando's league campaign.

The Oldham-born goalkeeper first joined the Pride from Bordeaux in January 2022 and remains under contract with Orlando through 2027. Before moving to the United States, she played in France and had spells in England with Durham, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Arsenal, West Ham United and Everton. Her time at Arsenal included winning the 2017-18 FA Women's Super League Cup, while she was part of West Ham's run to the 2019 Women's FA Cup final.

Moorhouse's performances in Orlando also led to senior international recognition. She received her first England call-up in July 2024, later made her debut at Wembley and was part of the Lionesses squad that won Euro 2025. Manchester City said she has kept a clean sheet in each of her England appearances to date.

City director of football Therese Sjogran described Moorhouse as an experienced goalkeeper with a record of delivering at the highest level. Moorhouse said the transfer offers a new challenge and a different style of play, and she joins the reigning English champions for the opening months of the season. Orlando, meanwhile, retain her contract and are due to receive her back when the loan ends in January.
