49ers Target Alabama Duo in Latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft Projections
San Francisco could address both offensive line depth and receiver needs by selecting two Alabama standouts in the upcoming NFL Draft, according to new projections.

The San Francisco 49ers are being projected to stay within the Alabama pipeline for the 2026 NFL Draft, with mock draft experts suggesting the team could select two Crimson Tide prospects to bolster their offensive depth.

According to The Athletic Nick Baumgardner latest three-round mock draft, the 49ers would use their late first-round selection at No. 27 overall to grab offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, before doubling down on Alabama talent by taking receiver Germie Bernard with their second-round pick at No. 58.

The Proctor selection represents both tremendous upside and calculated risk for San Francisco. At 6-foot-7 and 352 pounds, the towering tackle possesses what scouts describe as rare body control for someone of his massive frame. His physical tools suggest All-Pro potential, but questions remain about his immediate readiness as a blindside protector.

Proctor track record shows flashes of brilliance mixed with concerning inconsistencies in pass protection fundamentals. The prevailing wisdom suggests he would benefit from a developmental year, possibly learning at guard initially before transitioning to his natural left tackle position. For the 49ers, this timeline could work perfectly as a succession plan for veteran Trent Williams.

Williams, now in the twilight of his distinguished career, has been the anchor of San Francisco offensive line for years. However, his future with the organization remains uncertain, making Proctor selection a forward-thinking move. The plan would likely involve Proctor spending the 2026 season learning behind Williams before potentially taking over the crucial left tackle role in 2027.

The Bernard pick addresses a different but equally important need for the 49ers receiving corps. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound receiver enjoyed a productive final season at Alabama, hauling in 64 receptions for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. His combination of size and athleticism makes him an intriguing developmental prospect.

Currently, San Francisco receiving room is anchored by veteran Mike Evans, with Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk providing additional options. Bernard would initially slot in as the WR4, but his upside suggests he could quickly climb the depth chart with strong performances. Given Evans age and the uncertain long-term futures of some receivers, adding young talent at the position makes strategic sense.

The 49ers familiarity with late first and second-round selections could work in their favor. The organization has historically found success in this draft territory, identifying players who can contribute immediately while offering long-term value. Both Alabama prospects fit this profile, bringing proven college production from a top-tier program.

The mock draft notably focuses entirely on offense, reflecting perceived needs along the offensive line and in the passing game. Without a third-round pick due to the Osa Odighizuwa trade, the 49ers would need these two selections to make significant impacts.

Baumgardner projection represents just one possible scenario for San Francisco draft weekend, but the Alabama connection makes sense given both prospects skill sets and potential fit within the 49ers system. Whether this vision becomes reality will depend on how the board falls and which players are available when the 49ers make their selections.
