49ers Owner Jed York Pleads No Contest to Two Charges in Ohio

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has pleaded no contest to two criminal charges following his arrest in Ohio, according to reporting by The Guardian and KRON4 News. The 46-year-old was sentenced to one day in jail on each count and fined a combined $1,150.

KRON4 reported that York was initially arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. That count was subsequently amended to disorderly conduct, while a second charge accused him of possessing criminal tools. The arrest report cited in the coverage did not specify what the alleged criminal tools were.

A no-contest plea does not amount to an admission of guilt. It means the defendant does not contest the charge and accepts the court's punishment. The reported disposition therefore resolves the two cited counts without York formally admitting guilt to them.

According to KRON4, police arrested York on Sunday morning at a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio. The East Palestine Police Department and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force were involved in the arrest. York was born and raised in Youngstown, about a 30-minute drive from East Palestine, and still has a home in that area, the report said.

York became chief executive of the 49ers in 2008. He is the nephew of former majority owner Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. and became the franchise's principal owner in 2024 after acquiring his mother's shares. His position makes the legal case directly relevant to one of the NFL's most prominent organizations.

York also holds interests in European soccer through 49ers Enterprises, which has stakes in Premier League club Leeds United and Scottish club Rangers. The Guardian's report did not cite a public statement from York or the 49ers about the arrest or the pleas.
