Ducks Erupt for Seven Goals in Wild 7-5 Comeback Victory Over Bruins at TD Garden
The Anaheim Ducks scored four unanswered goals in the third period, including three in the final five minutes, to overcome a 5-3 deficit and defeat the Boston Bruins 7-5 in a thrilling shootout at TD Garden.

The Anaheim Ducks turned a two-goal third-period deficit into a stunning 7-5 victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night at TD Garden, capping a wild back-and-forth affair with an offensive explosion in the final frame. Troy Terry and Mikael Granlund each recorded multi-point performances as the Ducks scored four times in the third period to complete the comeback and hand Boston their second consecutive home loss. The game featured multiple momentum swings and showcased the offensive firepower of both teams. Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring for Boston just over two minutes into the first period with a rebound goal, but Drew Helleson responded at 8:06 to tie it 1-1. Morgan Geekie restored the Bruins' lead with his fourth goal of the year in the second period, assisted by David Pastrnak, before Cutter Gauthier and Jacob Trouba scored in quick succession to give Anaheim a 3-2 advantage heading into the second intermission. The third period delivered the most dramatic action of the night. Mason Lohrei notched his first goal of the season on the power play at 17:10 of the second period to tie the game 3-3, but the Ducks quickly responded. Mikael Granlund's power-play strike at 2:52 of the third gave Anaheim a 4-3 lead, and Sam Colangelo extended the advantage to 5-3 at 7:49, seemingly putting the game out of reach for the home team. But the Bruins refused to quit. Pastrnak and Geekie scored two goals in a remarkable 25-second span around the 14:57 mark to tie the game 5-5, sending the TD Garden crowd into a frenzy and appearing to shift all momentum back to Boston. The celebration was short-lived, however, as Troy Terry answered just 30 seconds later to restore Anaheim's lead at 6-5, deflating the Bruins and their fans with the quick-strike response. The Ducks' ability to immediately counter Boston's comeback attempt proved to be the difference. Granlund sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 17:52, capping his two-goal performance and ensuring the Ducks would leave Boston with two points. The loss dropped Boston to their second straight defeat at TD Garden after falling to the Knicks 111-89 just one night earlier, raising concerns about the team's defensive consistency and ability to protect leads. For Anaheim, the victory demonstrated their resilience and offensive depth. The Ducks never panicked when Boston tied the game late, instead relying on their speed and skill to generate quality scoring chances. Terry's game-winning goal showcased the kind of timely production that can define a team's season, while Granlund's two-goal, multi-point night highlighted the balanced scoring attack that makes the Ducks dangerous. The seven-goal outburst against a playoff-caliber opponent on the road should provide significant confidence as the team continues pushing for postseason positioning in the competitive Western Conference.
