G2 Esports Advances to League of Legends World Championship Finals with 3-1 Victory Over T1
European champions defeat defending world champions in thrilling semi-final clash at Busan Exhibition Center in South Korea.

G2 Esports achieved one of the biggest upsets in League of Legends history on Monday, defeating defending world champions T1 3-1 in the World Championship semi-finals at the Busan Exhibition Center, ending the Korean dynasty's hopes of a repeat title.

The European squad's victory was built on exceptional individual performances from Rasmus "Caps" Winther and Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, who consistently outdueled their legendary opponents in crucial team fights. Caps' Azir in game four was particularly dominant, dealing massive damage while positioning perfectly to avoid T1's engage attempts.

"We believed we could beat them, but to actually do it feels surreal," Caps said during the post-match interview. "T1 is the best team in the world, and Faker is the greatest player of all time, but today we played our best League of Legends. The preparation and confidence from our coaching staff was incredible."

The series began with T1 taking game one in convincing fashion, with Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok's LeBlanc dominating the mid lane as expected. However, G2 responded with three consecutive victories, showcasing improved macro play and team coordination that has been their focus throughout the tournament.

G2's upset victory was particularly impressive given T1's perfect record in the tournament leading into the semi-finals. The Korean team had looked unstoppable through the group stage and quarterfinals, with Faker and his teammates appearing to be in peak form heading into the business end of the competition.

The victory sends G2 to their first World Championship final since 2019 and sets up a showdown against either JDG or BLG in what promises to be an epic conclusion to the tournament. For European League of Legends, G2's achievement represents a massive moment and provides hope that the region can compete with the traditional powerhouses from Korea and China. The final is scheduled for this weekend at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
