NFL Draft Combine Standouts: Rising Stars Catch Scout Attention
Several prospects are making major impressions at the NFL Combine with record-breaking performances and interviews.

The 2026 NFL Draft Combine is delivering headline-making performances as college football stars compete for their professional dreams in Indianapolis. Day two of workouts saw several prospects catapult up draft boards with exceptional athletic displays that have scouts buzzing about April selections.

Texas linebacker Jake Morrison stole the show with a blazing 4.41-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time by a linebacker since 2019. Morrison, projected as a second-round pick entering the week, is now garnering first-round attention from teams seeking speed at the position. His 38-inch vertical jump and 125-inch broad jump further cemented his status as one of the most athletic prospects in Indianapolis.

On the offensive side, Alabama wide receiver Terrell Washington turned heads with precise route running and sure hands during receiving drills. Washington caught every pass thrown his direction across three different workout sessions, displaying the consistency NFL teams covet. His performance included a spectacular one-handed grab that drew applause from the assembled scouts and media.

Perhaps the most surprising riser has been Oregon State offensive tackle Miguel Rodriguez, who measured in at 6-foot-6, 318 pounds with 34.5-inch arms. Rodriguez ran a 5.12-second 40-yard dash, exceptional for his size, and dominated position drills with fluid movement and strong technique. Multiple NFL executives have called him the best offensive line prospect they have evaluated this week.

Beyond the physical testing, team interviews have been equally important for prospect evaluations. Sources indicate that several players have significantly improved their draft stock through impressive meetings with coaching staffs and front office personnel. The ability to articulate football concepts and demonstrate leadership qualities often carries as much weight as athletic testing.

The Combine continues through Tuesday, with defensive backs and specialists completing their workouts. Several teams are already making plans to bring standout performers in for private workouts and visits before the April 29-May 1 draft in Las Vegas. With free agency beginning March 17th, teams are simultaneously evaluating veteran additions and rookie talent to address roster needs for the upcoming season.
