Amanda Serrano announces Puerto Rico farewell against Skye Falzon
Amanda Serrano has announced that she will end her professional boxing career with a world-title defence against Australia's Skye Falzon in Puerto Rico on 9 January, according to BBC Sport. The 38-year-old seven-weight world champion is scheduled to put her WBA and WBO featherweight belts on the line at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
The farewell event, named The Last Walk, will feature a contest over 12 rounds of three minutes each. Falzon, 37, has recorded 12 victories in 14 professional appearances, with seven of those wins coming by knockout. Serrano will enter the final bout with a record of 50 wins, four losses and one draw, having begun her professional career in 2009.
Her most recent victory came against Argentina's Lucrecia Manzur, whom she beat by majority decision to reach the 50-win milestone. BBC Sport reported that the encounter became the first world-title fight streamed live on TikTok and attracted 3.4 million views. Serrano did not secure a knockout in that contest; the broadcaster says she is seeking to move beyond Christy Martin's mark of 32 in her farewell appearance.
Serrano said that finishing her career in Puerto Rico, in front of supporters who had backed her from the start, carried particular significance for her and her family. Her achievements include becoming the only Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to hold undisputed world-champion status. The January event will bring that career back to home soil for its concluding contest.
She also credited Most Valuable Promotions with supporting both her career and women's boxing. Serrano became the company's first fighter signing in 2021, after its establishment by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian. In comments reported by the BBC, she highlighted efforts to improve pay, opportunities and access to the same competition rules as men, and said she intended to continue advocating for future fighters after retirement.
Her three-fight rivalry with Katie Taylor remains a major part of that career. They became the first women to headline a boxing event at Madison Square Garden in 2022, then met in a Netflix-broadcast rematch in 2024. Taylor won all three meetings, completing the trilogy in July 2025 on an all-women's card in New York.
