Vladimir Tarasenko emerged as one of the NHL's most dangerous goal scorers during his prime, a Russian right winger whose quick release and scoring instincts terrorized goaltenders throughout the 2010s. Born on December 13, 1991, in Yaroslavl, Russia, Tarasenko grew up in a hockey family with his father Andrei having played professionally. This heritage provided young Vladimir with expert guidance and the competitive drive that would characterize his professional career.

Tarasenko's path to the NHL began in the Russian junior system before he was selected 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Draft.
