Tyson Jost was born on March 14, 1998, in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, into a hockey-loving family in one of Canada's most productive hockey regions. Growing up in Alberta, where hockey is part of the cultural fabric, Jost was introduced to skating at a very young age. His natural athletic ability and passion for the game were evident from his earliest years in youth hockey, where he quickly distinguished himself from peers with his skating and offensive instincts.

Jost's development through minor hockey in Alberta saw him progress through the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers and Spruce Grove Saints organizations. His performances at the bantam and midget levels attracted attention from Western Hockey League scouts, leading to his selection by the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League for his draft year.
