Christopher Olave was born on June 27, 2000, in San Marcos, California, where he developed his football skills at Mission Hills High School. As a senior, he caught 81 passes for 1,506 yards and 18 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of California's most productive receivers. His combination of speed, precise route-running, and reliable hands caught the attention of college recruiters nationwide.

Olave committed to Ohio State University, where he would become one of the most prolific receivers in program history. Over four seasons with the Buckeyes (2019-2021), he caught 176 passes for 2,711 yards and 35 touchdowns, helping Ohio State compete for national championships and Big Ten titles. His junior season in 2021 was particularly outstanding, as he led the team with 65 receptions for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns.
