Masahiro Tanaka, born November 1, 1988, in Itami, Hyogo, Japan, established himself as one of the most accomplished Japanese pitchers of his generation through dominant performances in both Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball. Tanaka first gained national attention at Komadai Tomakomai High School, where he led his team to consecutive national championships in 2005 and 2006.
